２０２５年７月、ロサンゼルスに移住してちょうど１０年を迎えた。
そんな中、６月末に４２歳にして念願の長女を出産。
初めての新生児のお世話。悪戦苦闘を繰り返すうち、あっという間に１ヶ月半が過ぎた。
新生児期は私自身も産後高血圧症候群に悩まされ、すべてが不安で眠れなかった。
しかし娘の成長速度は著しく、生後1ヶ月を迎える頃には4000gを超えた。
首や手足を高く持ち上げることができ、筋力や神経の発達は尋常じゃないほど早いらしい。
現在も主治医から勧められたTummy Timeで日々の成長に驚かされている。
目下の心配事と言えば、乳児アクネが顔や頭全体、首周りに広がってしまったこと。
それも３〜４ヶ月くらいには自然と消えるだろうと言われている。
この妊娠や出産の期間、決して順風満帆だったわけではない。
年齢や持病、体質による様々な問題があった。
この貴重で壮絶な体験談が誰かの助けになるようブログに書き留めようと思う。
まずは、妊娠が発覚する前。長い苦悩の日々が続いた。
遡るところ約２年前。
数年前から１０cmを超える子宮筋腫を原因とする様々な症状に悩まされていた。
年齢的にもコンディション的にも子供を授かるにはかなり厳しい状況だと自覚していた。
しかし、0.０１％でも可能性があるなら、どうしても自分の子供が欲しかった。
タイムリミット、ギリギリという焦りもあり、当時あまり乗り気ではなかった旦那をなんとか説得して妊活を始めた。
妊活と言っても、金銭的に余裕があったわけではないし、
試験管ベイビーでは年齢や筋腫を抱えた出産に赤ちゃんが立ち向かう力を養えないのではと考え
あくまでも自然妊娠にこだわり、食事やサプリ、タイミング法を根気強く続けた。
そんな中、いつ折れるか分からない私の心が縋ったのは漢方だった。
明治薬局の親切な店員さんに勧められ、ガーディナにあるTC Herbs & Acupunctureに通い始めた。
そこで出会ったのは本場中国出身で長年、東京大学で教授を務めた超スペシャリストのシェン先生だ。
彼は英語も日本語も堪能で、毎回とても親身に相談に乗ってくれた。
相談したのは子宮筋腫を少しでも小さくしたいのと、元気な子供を授かりたいという２点。
その時々の悩みや症状に寄り添い、その場で選りすぐりの煎じ薬を調合してくれる。
PPOであれば保険もカバーされるが、私はHMOだったので毎回＄１５０前後払っていた。
その値段で通常は大体１週間分だが、事情を踏まえて私には一度に２週間分煎じてくれた。
通い始めて１年ほどが経ち、ほとんど諦めかけていた２０２４年１０月。
周期を通してかなりいい兆候が見られたこともあり、排卵日前後の時点で希望的なある予感はあった。
それから２週間、以前からとても正確にきていた生理が遅れること２日。
期待と不安を抱え、ラストチャンスと願いを込めて妊娠検査薬を手に取った。
２０２４年１０月２５日、奇跡は起こった！！
すぐにシェン先生に報告に行くと、彼は自分のことのように飛び上がって喜んでくれた。笑
その時の笑顔は今でも脳裏に焼き付いている。
その後、OBにはどんな影響が出るか分からないと漢方薬の摂取を止められたが
年齢や持病などによる流産の心配は拭えなかったので、絶大な信頼のもと、安定期に入るまで通い続けた。
結果的につわりには少しだけ悩まされたものの、順調に安定期を迎えることができた。
シェン先生との出会いは精神的にもかなり大きな支えとなった。
漢方薬が合わないという人もいるかもしれないが、抵抗がない人はぜひ試してみて欲しい。

The Beginning of a Miracle
July 2025 marked ten years since I moved to Los Angeles. Just weeks earlier, at 42, I welcomed my long-awaited baby girl.
Caring for a newborn for the first time has been both joyful and overwhelming—somehow a month and a half has already passed. In those early days, I struggled with postpartum hypertension and sleepless nights filled with worry.
Yet my daughter’s growth has been astonishing. By one month she was already over 4,000g, lifting her head, arms, and legs with surprising strength. Each day, tummy time reveals something new. My only current concern is the baby acne spreading across her tiny face and scalp, though I’ve been reassured it will fade in time.
Pregnancy and childbirth were anything but easy. Age, health issues, and countless hurdles stood in the way. Still, this journey gave me stories I hope might comfort or encourage someone else.
Looking Back—Two Years Earlier
For years, I had struggled with a uterine fibroid over 10 cm, knowing my chances of conceiving were slim. And yet, even if there was only a 0.01% chance, I wanted to try. With time running out, I convinced my reluctant husband to begin our fertility journey.
We couldn’t afford expensive treatments, and I felt IVF might not be the right path for my condition. So I focused on natural conception—diet, supplements, and timing. What truly kept me going, however, was traditional Chinese medicine.

Though my OB advised stopping herbs, I continued until the second trimester out of fear of miscarriage. Aside from mild morning sickness, the pregnancy went smoothly.
